The Dean of the Civil Law Section, Céline Lévesque, visited the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico on the weekend of March 10th, 2016 for the North American Consortium on Legal Education (NACLE) Monterrey Workshop. This workshop promotes the dynamic exchange between law students and professors from different law Faculties member of the NACLE. The 2016 workshop, titled « Lawyering and judging in a global context: Challenges for the profession and legal education in North America », focused on the challenges that the North American integration poses to the governance and performance of lawyers, judges, and law professors. Held bi-annually, this workshop allows the building of a better North-American legal community.
During her visit, the Dean held meetings with her Mexican counterparts in order to develop institutional collaborations, especially regarding graduate studies in law. Civil Law students are already able to participate in exchanges with ITESM through the NACLE Consortium and benefit from the Tec’s beautiful Monterrey campus.
During the workshop, the Dean also took part in a panel which discussed the implications of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and its impact on the functioning of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
