Katherine Lippel and the Canada Research Chair on Occupational Health and Safety Law are organizing a major international conference on regulation, change and the work environment here at the University of Ottawa from November 30 to December 2, 2015.
The conference will feature 29 speakers from Canada, the United States, France, Great Britain, Belgium and China. Over 100 people, from the fields of law, health care and workplace safety, along with stakeholders, students and professors from various disciplines, will attend. Simultaneous translation will be provided and members of the Quebec Bar and the Law Society of Upper Canada will be credited for 11 hours of continuing professional development.
This conference follows another major conference, the International Symposium on Governance, Change and the Work Environment, which took place in 2014 at Cardiff University in Wales. The University of Ottawa’s International Research Acceleration Program provided partial funding for that conference and is doing likewise for this one, which is also being funded by the SSHRC, the University’s Conference/Workshop on Campus Opportunity, the Faculty of Law (Civil Law Section) and the Canada Research Chair on Occupational Health and Safety Law.
As well, a panel discussion organized with the Canadian Labour Congress will take place November 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. No registration is required.
Conference organizers are looking for volunteers to handle various tasks during the conference. To offer your services, please contact the Chair.
