A team of students from uOttawa Law, Common and Civil Law Sections, won the moot competition at the annual Out on Bay Street conference, which took place in Toronto on September 18 and 19, 2015.
The moot competition was put on by the conference organizers and Dentons Canada (Toronto). The legal questions debated in this competition centre on LGBTQ issues. This year, the competition focused on the application of Article 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (equality rights) in a situation involving international privacy law and family law (divorce).
Participating teams came from the University of Toronto (two teams), McGill University (two teams), Osgoode Hall Law School (one team) and the University of Ottawa. But ultimately our team was the winner!
